IELTS Speaking Part 3 – Actor

• Are actors or actresses very interested in their work? Why?

Just like in any profession, there are actors and actresses who have a genuine passion for their work. They are driven by their love for storytelling, the creative process, and the opportunity to connect with audiences. However, it’s also true that some individuals may enter the industry for other reasons, such as financial benefits or family background in the entertainment field.

• Is being a professional actor or actress a good career?

– The career of a professional actor or actress can be both rewarding and challenging. For a select few, it can be a highly fulfilling and successful career, leading to fame, recognition, and financial success. However, it’s essential to acknowledge that the industry is highly competitive, and achieving significant success often takes time, talent, and persistence. Many actors and actresses may face uncertainties, rejections, and the need to cater to audience demands, making it a complex career choice with both positive and negative aspects.

• What can children learn from acting?

– Acting can offer valuable learning experiences for children, especially in terms of communication skills. As they engage in acting, children learn to be articulate, express themselves clearly, and effectively convey emotions and thoughts. Furthermore, acting can enhance their creativity, self-confidence, and ability to work collaboratively with others. These skills can prove beneficial in various aspects of their personal and professional lives, even if they don’t pursue acting as a long-term career.

• Why do children like special costumes?

– I recently read about this kind of thing. Costumes act like vessels where youngsters can take on certain roles. For example, when boys wear Superman or Spiderman costumes, they tend to act like those characters, while girls may take on the persona of a princess. It is a way for a child to embody and manifest a specific role.

• What are the differences between actors or actresses who earn much and those who earn little?

One key difference is creative control. A-list actors have a say in the projects they take on, while B-list actors often follow the decisions made by others. Additionally, A-list actors have a significant fan following, which gives them leverage in negotiations with movie producers.

• What are the differences between acting in a theatre and acting in a film?

In theatre, performers need to do the act multiple times each weekend, and there are a series of rehearsals. They cannot make any mistakes as the performances are live. On the other hand, in film, actors work with industry professionals rather than directly with the audience, and they have the option to do reshoots to perfect their performances.
