1. Do you usually help people around you?
- As a Chinese person living in Korea, we often assist each other. Sometimes, we seek help or run errands for one another. For instance, if someone needs to go home, we may ask them to bring something, or it can be the other way around.
- I have to admit that due to my busy schedule, I don’t often have the opportunity to help people, especially older family members and friends. However, sometimes, we seek help or run errands for one another. For instance, if someone needs to go to the supermarket to buy some produce or toiletries, we may ask them to bring something, or it can be the other way around.
2. How do you help people around you, such as neighbours, family and friends?
- My way of helping is first by ensuring that I’m not a burden to my family. I also make an effort to be considerate of my neighbors by avoiding loud noises. When it comes to friends, I assist with school-related matters and occasionally volunteer for events.
- Since I am far from my family, I make sure to update them regularly, and I try not to cause any trouble; I believe that’s enough help for now. With my neighbors, I ensure that I am not a source of concern, maintaining a quiet environment without loud music, and keeping my place clean. As for my friends, I can run errands for them when they are busy.
3. Do your parents teach you how to help others?
- Yes, my parents ,who are teachers, have instilled in me the value of altruism, which involves helping others without expecting anything in return.
4. Did your parents help you a lot when you were young?
- Yes, my parents provided support in various ways, including mentally, physically, and financially. Interestingly, they also helped by encouraging me to become more independent, which was valuable.
5. What have you done to help the elderly?
- Recently, one of my friends asked me to participate in a charity event where we visit homes for elders in my province. Our goal is to spend time talking with them, providing companionship, and assisting them with various tasks to make their time enjoyable.
