1. Did you stay focused in class when you were a child?
- I had some challenges staying focused in class when I was younger, particularly during my primary school years. I used to find the lessons boring, and my mind would often wander. However, I’ve grown accustomed to it over time.
- As a child, I can remember my struggles in class. My mind often wandered, especially when I skipped breakfast. There were also occasions when I had stomach aches, and I couldn’t pay attention to the teacher as I was thinking about going to the bathroom.
2. Are you a focused person?
- My ability to stay focused varies depending on the situation. When I’m reading books or conducting research, I can be laser-focused on the task at hand. But during classroom learning, discussions, or sports activities, I tend to get distracted or lose interest.
- I would say that I have improved significantly over the years. Although there are still some challenges, I can manage to stay laser-focused on things that matter. However, there are occasional lapses, especially when it comes to mundane (,mún’deyn or ‘mún,deyn) tasks that I tend to procrastinate (pru’kra-stu,neyt or prow’kra-stu,neyt)on.
3. How do you stay focused?
- It might sound unusual, but I find that listening to music while working helps me maintain my concentration. While it could be distracting for some, it effectively cancels out other noises and allows me to stay focused.
- To stay focused, I turn off my phone and clear my desk of clutter. I also ensure that I get enough rest for I know that when I start working, if I haven’t had enough sleep, my body can trigger sleepiness. So, I make sure to rest in advance or have some coffee to help me stay focused.
4. Is it easy to stay focused in a noisy environment?
- For me, it’s relatively easy to stay focused in a noisy environment, thanks to my music. Even as a child, I had to deal with noisy classrooms, and I simply got accustomed to working under such distractions.
- It’s actually very hard for me to stay focused in a noisy environment, especially considering my condition where noises are processed (‘pró,sest or ‘prow, sest) in my head. Sometimes, instead of canceling out the noise, I find myself listening and trying to understand it, which makes it difficult for me to read or concentrate.
