IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Chatting

  • Do you like chatting with friends?
  • What do you usually chat about with friends?
  • Do you prefer to chat with a group of people or with only one friend?
  • Do you prefer to communicate face-to-face or via social media?
  • Do you argue with friends?

1. Do you like chatting with friends?

  • Yeah, I really enjoy it when we share aspects of our lives. It’s a great way to let off steam and stay in the loop with one another.
  • Yes, I enjoy chatting with friends, especially when I’m feeling stressed or down. They’re the ones who boost my morale and bring joy to my life, helping me relieve stress.

2. What do you usually chat about with friends?

  • We discuss various topics like fashion, things we stumble upon online, and personal stories we want to get off our chests.
  • When chatting with friends, our conversations often cover various topics. We discuss everything from trivial matters to academic subjects, including our studies. We also talk about other people and indulge in a bit of juicy gossip from time to time or just have fun with others, anything that makes us feel great or happy about ourselves.

3. Do you prefer to chat with a group of people or with only one friend?

  • Regarding parties or celebrations, I enjoy shooting the breeze with as many people as possible. However, for personal or confidential matters, I prefer opening up to my friends exclusively.
  • I generally prefer one-on-one conversations with a friend. I’m more of an introvert, and though I can engage in group discussions, it tends to make me feel uneasy, with the fear of inadvertently offending someone.

4. Do you prefer to communicate face-to-face or via social media?

  • I prefer face-to-face communication because we can wear our hearts on our sleeves, especially during joyful and sorrowful moments. Nonetheless, on other occasions, social media works just as well.
  • I lean toward communicating online, mainly because I’m more of an introvert. Face-to-face interactions tend to trigger anxiety for me.

5. Do you argue with friends?

  • Occasionally, we hash things out about certain details, but we never take it too far or hit below the belt.
  •  Occasionally, we engage in arguments, but they usually revolve around trivial topics like movies. We prefer to keep these discussions civil and avoid making them personal.
