IELTS Speaking Part 1: Challenges
IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Challenges
1. What subject do you think is the most challenging at school?
- When I was studying, I would say math was the most challenging subject. It’s not just about the subject itself, though; it’s also the teachers. The subject is difficult because we don’t use math every day like we do with language. But what made it even harder for me was the teachers I had. They weren’t very good at teaching, which made it tough to understand the material. Plus, math class was always scheduled after lunch when everyone was tired and sleepy, which made it even worse.
- Although I can excel in math, I still believe that math is one of the most challenging subjects at school. This is because math is often introduced in a theoretical way. Even though we can visualize some concepts, it’s still hard to grasp everything since we don’t see it all the time. Additionally, the resources can be quite complicated, and sometimes the teacher provides very minimal explanation, just reading from the book and solving problems without explaining why. This makes the subject even more challenging.
2. Do you like to challenge yourself?
- I don’t really like to challenge myself too much in my day-to-day life. While I do enjoy challenges at work or in my studies, I prefer to keep things easy in other areas of my life. I don’t want to push myself to the limit all the time because I might burn out or find that it’s not worth the effort.
- To be honest, I prefer not to be challenged as much as possible. While I understand that life will present many challenges, I don’t seek them out because I want to be happy and less stressed. My family is somewhat comfortable, so financial challenges are not a major concern for me. Although it might sound a bit insensitive, money can solve many problems.
3. Do you like to live a life that has a lot of challenges?
- I’m 36, and I’ve learned that you can’t have sunny days without rainy days. So yes, challenges are part of life, but I can’t say I enjoy them. I accept that they will come, and I just try to be prepared. The good thing is that after you overcome a challenge, you get to see the sunlight again. I prefer challenges at work rather than at home because home challenges are draining, while work challenges are more manageable for me.
- No, I don’t see my life as very challenging. As long as my parents are willing to support me financially, I can do whatever I want without facing many challenges. I believe that sometimes you don’t need to work hard; having power and influence can be more important.
4. How do you usually deal with challenges in daily life?
- There are a lot of challenges in daily life, and it depends on the type of challenge. For household chores, I usually just tackle them head-on until they’re done. Some challenges are best ignored because they’ll resolve themselves over time. Others need to be confronted directly, and sometimes you have to show a tougher side to deal with them. Challenges vary, and the way you handle them depends on what kind of challenge you’re facing.
- When facing challenges, I often explore different ideas or sometimes ignore the problem and let others solve it. It might take a while, but eventually, ignoring a problem can make it disappear or become someone else’s problem.
